The New Boyd Hall Science
Center
Since 1969 Boyd has served
as the home of the natural sciences at Plymouth State College. In
spring 2002, an exciting makeover of Boyd Hall began. That state
of New Hampshire committed 16 million dollars for the renovation of the
existing structure, as well as an expansion that will increase the overall
size of the Science Center by 40 percent. The result is a state-of-the-art
science facility housing biotechnology and other science disciplines.
The biotechnology laboratory facilities, furnished with sophisticated cutting-edge
equipment, includes a modern teaching laboratory, a laboratory dedicated
to sudent research in biotechnology, a biotechnology preparation room,
a sterile room, a tissue culture room and an instrument room. All
laboratories are equipped for computer use and internet access.
In the laboratories, students engage in a variety of sophisticated
hands-on research projects mentored by professors dedicated to student
success. A low student to faculty ratio, with faculty focused on
undergraduate education, serves to provide a friendly supportive academic
environment.
