"Inheritance"
Tina Testa
I still
love it when you tell me a story,
About the
people you've met and the things you did,
About
you, in all your glory,
I've been
learning from you since I was a kid,
You
taught me poker and we've shared a love for cards ever since,
And you
say I've also inherited your wit and independence,
But I
know that strength comes with weakness,
And it's
that inheritence that I wouldn't miss,
But here
we are, we're both weak and I see what it's done to you,
I'm
young, I don't feel it yet but I'm sure I will too,
It's the
one thing I wish we didn't have in common with each other,
I want to
stop but more I want you to so someday my kids can meet their great
grandmother,
And I
want to stop the chain of inheritance before it reaches your grandson, my
little brother,
But
strength comes with weakness, We both light up
another.
